Mozilla acts like Microsoft. What a shitty way to treat people who worked for free. From the thread it seems Mozilla activated their Japanese AI bot (SumoBot) without bothering to tell the people doing Japanese translations. The bot ran rampant and did stuff like rewriting 300+ articles. This is from the first post. Emphasis mine.

Hi, I am a locale leader of SUMO Japanese community. I have contributed to the Support over 20 years, before the beginning of support.mozilla.org. […] I understand that this is mass destruction of our work and explicit violation to the Mozilla mission, allowed officially. Therefore, I (marsf) declare: I quit to contribute to support.mozilla.org

They might not be Japanese but by the politeness of their post I assume they are and that they are very pissed off even though that’s not clear from the post.

“I’ve been doing this for 20 years and this thing you just did has made me quit” means “I’m beyond pissed off” in any language and any culture I’m pretty sure lmao

My understanding of japanese culture acquired exclusively through anime tells me that calling out the mass destruction of their work and explicit violation of the Mozilla mission is basically saying “Fuck you, you fucking piece of shit”

When talking to friends about the situation… I guess people from Kansai (Osaka, etc) might express similar feelings to their friends. People from Kanto (Tokyo, etc) tend to be a bit more reserved maybe words like “jerk” or “asshole” are closer.

I lived in Tokyo for a while and I once had a girlfriend from Osaka who was helping me find a new place to live. She started talking on the phone to a particular real estate agent and within about 60 seconds the convo got heated. And she soon totally lost her temper and was yelling into the phone at the real estate agent. The agent noticed her Kansai accent and was giving her a hard time because of it. My girlfriend would never stand for that.
