    most dedicated electric cars come with a shit ton of sensors which give all that juicy data to third parties.

    This is true of all cars, not just electric cars. Plus, this is not an argument against EVs. It’s an argument for privacy.

      Sure, I agree. I have nothing against electric cars per se, but I think both methods should exist to be able to get one. Afaiu my older car has fewer sensors and no connections to access it remotely.

      I cannot currently be sure any electric car will be the same, so until privacy laws for cars come in where they are forced to not even add those sensors/remote data extraction I would prefer to just convert my current car. There should be an option for governments to pay for conversion for those of us who prefer that method.

      Besides, it’s better to keep a car than scrap it for a new one. I’d rather not just scrap a perfectly good car just because someone somewhere decided I should get a new electric rather than be able to convert an existing one with financial help.
