    I don’t think it’s out of the question the US backs down after a relatively small attack. They want Maduro to surrender because they genuinely believe he’s a corrupt dictator who only cares about his own skin, so they can’t really process that he’s more invested in the Bolivarian Revolution than his own life. They don’t want a messy war in the Caribbean.

    But if they do invade, they will get fucking blasted.

      Most importantly I don’t think the American public has the stomach for committing actual troops or (gasp) money and standard-of-living toward a war with Venezuela. It is easy to complain on social media about the scary Communists, but I doubt those Americans are willing to sacrifice for that belief. The US is therefore limited to hYbRiD wArFaRe that is dubiously effective in the end, although certainly destructive and cruel in the short- to medium-term.

      The only reason the American public gave up anything under Bush was , and even that wore off by the end of his second term.
