?

i feel the mobile form factor makes games waaaay more approachable, installing an app feels like less of an act compared to pulling an AppImage for desktop use-

I’m interested in that game discussion! I think something like Journey is difficult because you usually need a good art style and enough players to keep the novel multiplayer experience alive for everyone.

The main blocker for mobile is the app store process and expectations of the type of player that would be there. Premium games don’t typically do well since people expect free games with ads and the like. Web can be okay, especially if you get into one of those free game sites, but multiplayer is still a tough nut to crack. There are some godot games on flatpak but idk how widely they’re played

Anyway I hope that wasn’t discouraging 😅 I think designing for a Journey-like is interesting!

hmmmm… my idea is to have it just be a foss game which can find its way onto flatpak and the play store. ive already tried some online tests with frens over the network using a web hosted version of a game and it worked great!we app peeps were able to play and have our data transmitted - without downloading anything.

so yeaaaa- im not really plannimg on making any money, so a sky: children of the light type thing but without microtransactions would be the goal…im not really doin this to make money - aaaaanyway-

i feel that the magic with journey is that it can be played alone without u even noticing its multiplayer. so its a great single player game - and also a good multiplayer exp- (i just played journey recently for the first time.,.)

      thank u for ur feedback

Good point, the multiplayer in Journey is a nice bonus that adds to the world. I had to look up sky: children of the light and I can see why you want your own version. And running completely in-browser is actually really cool! I tried to make a web build (targeting mobile) when 4 was new and ran into annoying problems lol

There’s a guide to get a godot game into flathub floating around the fediverse too, if that’s what you’re using. Good luck!
