I mean the potholes etc were already there well before Brexit. Tbh a big part of what makes Farage’s narrative appealing to a lot of people is that the British economy did turn to shit when they lost the empire — because it had always been utterly dependent on exploiting the colonies — and subsequent attempts to adapt to a post-imperial context, including membership of the EU, were all huge failures for everyone from the middle class down
