    Leaving the EU was not inherently a bad idea but I don’t know why anyone was expecting the conservatives to do anything but make a completely fucking arse of it.

        Yeah this is an argument I’ve never understood. Okay, a hypothetical socialist UK leaving the EU to do more socialism would be good, but that was never even remotely a possibility.

          The argument is that the EU has a lot of requirements for its members to adopt neoliberal economic policies, but the counter is that the UK was excepted from many rules and really was not in a position to get got the way Greece did even if they did do a bunch of socialism.

            Also that the people overseeing Brexit and setting up the new status quo would be neoliberals (Cameron at the time, but as was made obvious by the ratfucking of Corbyn, it’s not like Labour was going to be any better).

    Every right wing push always ends up making the world worse. The propaganda machine behind it makes us keep choosing it. Or at least enough of us choosing it that they can do it and call it “democracy.”

    Everything is just depressing.
