Inconsistent logic from the administration. Stephen Miller says that he wants to take Greenland because they can’t defend it. Trump put tariffs on European countries for deploying military to Greenland to defend it. If you don’t defend Greenland then they will take it and if you do defend it then they will punish your economy.
It doesn’t have to be consistent, it is an exercise of power simply for the sake of the exercise.
