The reason I can’t pay for this myself is because I’m going through a disability benefit appeal.
Last year I had multiple foot surgeries to debride infected areas. (these chronic foot infections are caused by the fact that I’m immunocompromised due to ongoing cancer treatment).
It worked well but now the infection is back. I’ve been referred for two further surgeries. The NHS pays for the surgeries but afterwards I will need boxes of bandages as they need to be changed daily, waterproof shower boots so I can shower without getting the bandages wet, iodine liquid and patches, waterproof shoe covers to wear instead of shoes while my feet heal, laundry disinfectant (really important to stop the infection spreading, it has already spread to a small patch on my hand), some anaesthetic gel to apply before the surgery so I don’t have to feel all the painful anaesthetic needles they’re going to inject into my feet, and help with transport costs as the hospital is several towns away. My landlady will drive me but she can’t afford the petrol. The NHS only pays for the surgery, none of the other stuff. To buy the bandage kits directly from the NHS is £44 now, and I would need at least 2 kits. However the items are also available individually on amazon.
I also need a box of nitrile gloves to wear while changing my bandages and handling my laundry. It’s extremely infectious and already spread to my hand so I need protection while handling things. I need the case of 1000 as I will get through a huge amount quickly. These are the gloves:
Because the UK government are checking bank accounts I think I could get in trouble if multiple people contribute small amounts to me, while I’m allowed to accept gifts from friends and family I’m not allowed to fundraise. So if anyone is willing to help there are three ways I think I could safely accept help:
-
If someone was willing to contribute via paypal a sum that looked like a birthday/xmas gift from a relative. Like if someone could give £50 or £100 and write in the message box “Happy belated birthday,” I could tell the DWP it was a gift from a relative and that would be OK. If you’re able to do this please PM me for paypal address. I really do need at least some actual money to pay for the petrol.
-
If someone could send me an amazon gift card, then it could be for any amount no matter how random as the DWP would never know about it. If you’re able to do this, my personal email address is DisabledAceSocialist@hotmail.com and this one here takes crypto: https://www.bitrefill.com/gb/en/gift-cards/amazon-uk/
-
If anyone was willing to order any of the items and send them directly to me, that would be a great help too. Some items are available on amazon, some on ebay and here is the website that sells the disinfectant: https://www.eradicil.com/
I hope someone can help as I can’t actually have the surgery without at least the bandages, shower boots and petrol costs.
