My favourite is “Imported by Canadian address” it carries too high a risk of being American to buy.
All American products need an American flag on the label and products that put no money into the US economy should have a prohibited symbol over it.

Just seems that they often don’t declare their country of origin, instead saying they were imported by.
I’d imagine it’s mandatory for an importer to have an address in Canada at least for their Canadian office. That label is like, legally the vaguest possible thing to say.
It would be good to have percent of value added for each country a product has been in. Cotton from Zimbabwe 25%, weaving in China 50%, screen printing in Canada 25%, for example.

It is, and that’s the complaint. It is a useless piece of information that does nothing to properly inform the consumer.
Hopefully the petition (recently ended, IIRC) does something to motivate lawmakers to require “imported from” to be part of that label.

And any improperly labelled products must be free of charge to customers when checking out. Put it on the retailer to verify accuracy of all products or lose revenue on them.
It also needs to distinguish between Canadian ownership and US ownership. Even if made in Canada with Canadian ingredients, if the profits end up leaving the local economy then it’s barely any better than foreign made.
Beautiful! I agree. But not like our current warning labels, which are mostly relegated to a small black and white box in the corner.
Is there a specific reason you dislike them? I kinda appreciate their simplicity and straightforwardness.
They’re just easy to ignore, although I suppose cigarette warnings are large and graphic but that doesn’t stop most either…
I suppose those who care would read it in any form. Maybe this followed by some sort of promotional videos to alert the general public? I would take this type of info-graphic in any form though.
I love this, and I’m in NZ. I buy so many Australian things because it’s better than “Made in NZ from local and/or imported ingredients”.
