Reminds me of when Rod Dreher was writing about that crazy woman who called the cops on a couple of black people standing around and grilling in a park, and in order to defend her he started talking about a group of rude & loud black people who lived under his apartment at one point and he was too scared of being accused of racism if he called the cops, so he didn’t call the cops. The group of rude black people under his apartment didn’t exist, by the way, he just started doing a “what if” and getting mad at the imaginary scenario.
