So me and a close one have been discussing twinks (totally straight and gay) but then we got to the topic of gals and now I’m wondering.

Is there a female equivalent to a twink? What about a bear? Help

At least in my group of trans friends, we semi-jokingly use the term “girltwink” for women that tend to be smaller and more “traditionally feminine”.

Tomboy and butch are two very different things.

A butch is a specific type of lesbian. The equivalent to a bear in gay social circles.

While a tomboy has no inherent sexual preference connotation. It’s just a girl that acts semi masculine. Tho it is now mostly used as a slur the next step after tomboy would be dyke. Which does carry sexual preference connotation. And would be a masculine lesbian. But not quite butch.

And like with most of things when it comes to these labels. They basically are all rooted in reclaimed slurs, stereotypes, regional expections or variances. Etc.

The queer community where I grew up uses vastly different terminologies then the one I live in now for example. Some of the terms used in one are slurs in the other.

So arguing over this to a large extent is pointless just cause terms vary so much.

I wasn’t saying tomboy and butch were the same, I was saying twink is more like butch than tomboy. Twinks do have more of an implied sexual preference than tomboys, thus being closer to butch. That was kinda my entire point.

It is all made up, and these distinctions are fluid. I think twink has become less gay coded than it used to be, but it still leans towards gay.

If you mean slim body and smooth skin then probably there isn’t a name for that because that’s the standard most will expect from women, while in man that deviates from the expectations and gets a name because of that. Unfair in my honest opinion.

What do you call a lady with large beautiful thighs that could crush your head like a seedless grape?

Where I grew up it would be femme and butch. While where I live now it’s more vibes based and fluid.

But where I grew up you basically had tomboys, which were the twinks. Straight but masculine. Femmes which were gay and girly. Dykes which where gay and in the middle. And butch which where gay and extremely masculine.

The terminology around where I grew up also hasn’t really changed in 20 years.

“Yeah Allison, you’re a lesbian, but sorry, you’ve not ploughed enough girls today. You can’t enter the girls hooters, sorry. Better luck tomorrow 🍒.”
