I really want to see the mental gymnastics of someone in the anti-war-ism debating Ukraine full support for “Israel”

I’ve seen it as understanding that Ukraine would be instantly dropped by the West if they dared criticize Israel.

Whoopsy our peace-loving anti-warist nation accidentally joined the genocide coalition where military aid is conditional on supporting genocide. Oopsie daisy. Guess we’ll just keep supporting that genocidal coalition anyway!

They understand, correctly, that no one other than the genocide coalition will support Ukraine.

They don’t examine that fact any further, obviously, or else they’d have to ask themselves “Why is it that the only nations that support Ukraine are also nations that support Israel’s genocide? What do those things have in common?” They don’t have a holistic worldview, they just examine every world historical event in isolation from everything else so they don’t have to confront empire.

Yes but if they are on the side of Ukraine/Palestine because they are suffering, Ukraine helping the one causing suffering for Palestine doesn’t make sense. If they care about morals, the good vs evil like they try to argue, Ukraine is evil for helping Israel. It’s just doesn’t make any sense the anti-war-ism arguments.
