I think if people are going to indicate “breaking” news by capitalization, preceding with “BREAKING!” or “🚨” etc, they should have to go change it to be normal after a few hours.

The democrats commitment to the bit is something to behold. This action is staggeringly awful. It’s not just worse than useless it’s destructive I figure it appeals to maybe ~1% of the voters that might vote dem. If this incredibly dumb hail mary fails - it’s fucking hilarious. But if it succeeds it’s even funnier. The dems have given GOP SCOTUS a precedent to meddle in state elections!

some of the bush appointees and occasionally one of the trump guys are enough procedure perverts that they make ok rulings once in a while. although sometimes it’s backhanded like one of the ones that was good for indigenous sovereignty was also good for some long-term corpo bullshit the neocons are trying to do.

They want to “work within the existing legal system”.

I was 100% expecting that yet I still have an unexpected feeling. It turns out that the 100% was more like ~99.90%. I knew the situation was hopeless but I couldn’t entirely accept that. I guess I would have the same feeling if I was a passenger in a car where the driver is an idiot, the high mountain road is twisty and treacherous, and crashing through a barrier is fatal.

The GOP SCOTUS ruling was the car smashing through and the certainty of death. At least in the car - death is probably quick. Instead - for years to go we’ll have to listen to endless, pointless, flag-waving speeches about voting, democracy, and American exceptionalism.

It’s also literally the representative congressional body either deciding on legislation to enact or putting it up to a popular vote before enacting it. They are working within the existing system, the court is the rogue agent here. Just tell them to fuck off, do it anyway, and then get rid of them out of spite. What a horrid political party.

Absolutely but there’s no way it means “just roll over at the slightest inconvenience that happens to benefit your ‘opposition.’” Like at some point the fans will start realizing that the Washington Generals are not only not trying to win, but actively trying to lose.

I hope so, they (the democrats) are extremely bad faith and very open about it but their propaganda is still quite strong and they’ve pivoted to racism like on the border and the rank and file just went along the ride
