https://www.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/3353203/southern-california-mayor-will-plead-guilty-acting-agent-chinese-government

Yesterday, Eileen Wang, the mayor of Arcadia California was arrested on the suspicion of working as an agent for the PRC. She is expected to plead guilty. Her boyfriend/fiance Yaoning “Mike” Sun received a similar charge in December 2020, under Biden’s presidency. Mike Sun was sentenced to 4 years in federal prison in October 2025.

US DoJ alleges that Eileen Wang and Mike Sun operated a propaganda news website called “US News Center”, which provided local news for Arcadia but also news related to China. US DoJ alleges that PRC officials sent stories to Eileen and Mike to publish on the website. US DoJ alleges that a PRC official instructed Eileen Wang to publish an article which said “there is no genocide in Xinjiang”.

I obviously don’t believe the US DoJ, Adrien Zenz, etc. Also I read the Eileen Wang arrest story on like a dozen different news websites and none of the websites provided the link to “US News Center”. So I found her website and now I’m sharing it. I want people to see what US DoJ considers to be be “pro-PRC propaganda”.

This just seems like a run-of-the-mill news site for Chinese speakers in the local area. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ran ads for Shen Yun. So much forfreeze-peach in the US!

Thank you for doing some real journalism, comrade! rat-salute-2

It’s funny how republicans think California is just a full-woke commie state, the white settlers commited some of the worst violence in the history of the US through genociding natives and the continued anti-Chinese racism. We don’t hear as much about that as we do the settler violence elsewhere like the Trail of Tears, I would guess the influence of Hollywood has had an impact on that.

I think it’s also that a lot of the second- and third-generation Chinese, as well as recent immigrants (because who would be fleeing China while they’re completely overtaking the west?), are rabidly anti-communist Hanjian. This, combined, with the US baseline level of Sinophobic propaganda is used to promote the US as “deeply concerned about the human rights violations in China” and other such nonsense. Meanwhile, the US is torturing Chinese expats to death and fomenting anti-Chinese sentiment comparable to the Nazis in regards to Jews.

First thing I notice is that it’s not written in simplified Chinese (at least partially). So I immediately think that this person is from Taiwan and not very likely a huge CPC fan lol. But then she was born in China so the first part isn’t true. Maybe it just looks fancier in traditional

edit: actually I’m less sure. I think I see more simplified words instead of standard throughout the page, but my Chinese isn’t good lol edit: yeah nevermind, I think it’s only the title which has the traditional word for US instead of the simplified. Maybe that’s a convention thing IDK. Now my comment is worthless.

This seems like the most paperwork crime ever. I saw the headline before and thought it was going to be something salacious. The news person they were working with was the wrong kind of news person?

For example, in June 2021, a PRC official contacted Wang and other individuals via the WeChat encrypted messaging application with pre-written news articles, including a PRC official-written essay in the Los Angeles Times that stated: “China’s Stance on the Xinjiang Issue – There is no genocide in Xinjiang; there is no such thing as ‘forced labor’ in any production activity, including cotton production. Spreading such rumor to do defame China, destroy Xinjiang’s safety and stability, weaken local economy, suppress China’s development[.]” Minutes later, Wang posted the article on her own website and responded to the PRC official with a link to the article on her website. The others in the group chat did the same. The PRC official responded: “So fast, thank you everyone.” In August 2021, Wang and three other members of the same group chat shared links to the same article on their respective “news” websites, after which the PRC official thanked them for their “reporting.” At the PRC official’s request, Wang made edits to the article, sent the official a link to the article reflecting the requested change, then sent the official a screenshot showing the article had been viewed 15,128 times. In response, the official messaged, “Great!,” Wang replied, “Thank you leader.” In November 2021, Wang communicated with John Chen, a high-level member of the PRC intelligence apparatus, who regularly attended elite Chinese Communist Party functions, including military parades, and met personally with PRC President Xi Jinping, according to court documents. Wang asked Chen to post a “news” article from her website, and wrote, “This is what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to send.”

I can’t believe you don’t have anything better to do than arresting someone for disagreeing with Zenz.

I’ve never heard of Arcadia, California before, and wikkkipedia says the 5th biggest employer in this city is Din Tai Fung. extremely funny. I don’t think any other city in the world has that honor.

imagine there’s a small city in east asia where one of the biggest companies operating is… greggs? tim hortons? nandos? some other meme anglo chain.

I really don’t even understand how this can be a crime in a country that is supposed to have “free speech”. If a citizen agrees with the official policy of people in another nation why is it a crime to tell other people?

Additionally… had she done the same exact thing in regards to Israel she not only would not be arrested but she would be running for senate.

If you ever bring this up to Americans, they’re just gonna say it doesn’t qualify as free speech if they don’t like it it serves foreign interests.
