I wish it was satire, here’s the bit about what I called the committee members on Wikipedia:

Wikipedia screenshot: The Council is composed of Islamic clerics and lawyers.[31] The Iranian constitution calls for the council to be composed of six Islamic faqihs (experts in Islamic Law), "conscious of the present needs and the issues of the day" to be selected by the Supreme Leader of Iran, who may dismiss them at will,[32] and six jurists, "specializing in different areas of law, to be elected by the Majlis from among the Muslim jurists nominated by the Chief Justice"[33] (who, in turn, is also appointed by the Supreme Leader).[34][35] Membership is for phased six-year terms: half the membership changes every three years

And here’s the article about what I called the council:

Wikipedia: The Assembly of Experts (Persian: مجلس خبرگان رهبری, romanized: Majles-e Khobregān-e Rahbarī, lit. 'Assembly of Experts for Leadership') is the deliberative body of Iran empowered to appoint, supervise, and discharge the Supreme Leader of Iran.[2][3] The assembly consists of 88 members who are directly elected by the public to serve eight-year terms, and all candidates must be vetted by the Guardian Council.
