At the very least to describe what the various communities are for. There seem to be many “general-purpose” communities and I do not understand the difference between them, and there are also communities that seem to be duplicates of one another, namely /c/hexbear, /c/den, and /c/feedback.

Additionally, I believe having a wiki blurb for common “emoji” would be beneficial. Who is the person in the image? What is their politics? Why is their image immortalized on our platform? What are some of the common usages of the emoji in terms of communicating a message or emotion through shorthand? Often I am faced with comments that I find incomprehensible due to the use of an emoji that I do not understand.

I’ll need to double check this before I post, but I think these 3 at least have decent sidebars, unlike some of the comms. From memory:

    • hexbear: local-only meta community for non-technical discussion about the site & site policies
    • den: local-only chat community, largely unused and mostly should have been posted to the prior IMO
    • feedback: technical site discussion

    Hah!

    Hexbear Meta Community

Posts should be a a Proposal (idea for changing the site), Feedback (regarding non-technical aspects of the site, for technical please use https://hexbear.net/c/feedback), or Appeals (regarding admin/moderator actions).

Yep. My most recent post there would maybe have been better elsewhere since I didn’t explicitly ask for a comm to be defeateddefederated, but that’s why I posted there.

A space for Hexbear users to chat with other Hexbear users, users from other instances will be banned if they comment or post.

A bunch of the posts on the first page feel to me like they’d fit better in the meta comm, yeah.

Tell us how we’re doing and report bugs. If you’re technically inclined, please submit bugs to the chapo gitea project.

A couple posts IMO would fit better elsewhere, but mostly aligned with that.
