I haven’t been very active on here the past week as I haven’t been feeling well, but just wanted to say thanks, I wouldn’t have been able to get it done without your help.

My landlady went away for quite a while because her daughter who lives 4 hours away has been very ill in hospital, so I’ve been managing on my own for a while, having to get taxis to all my appointments which I’ve only been able to pay for with help from mutual aid. So I still need to pay for transport to my follow-up and other appointments as I can’t walk to the bus stop, the nearest one is over half a mile away. I do have some tingling in my feet, I don’t know if it’s the local anaesthetic or neuro issues. Overall, managing for now, thank you.

I’m so sorry you have to manage on your own, but am glad you are making it. I recently suffered a serious injury and should be receiving physical assistance, but I live alone, so we manage.

I’m so glad mutual aid came through for you! I’ve been watching your posts there with some trepidation. Depending on how things go and how much time I miss from work, I may end up posting there again, which kind of makes me uncomfortable since you yourself and so many of our comrade-siblings are probably in more need, but it also feels weird saying that. Humans have real needs going unmet by no fault of their own, even if they “do everything right” according to societal structure demands! 😖 But the kindness shown in our spaces buoys my spirit, which happens to align with my personal ethos and faith.

Outside of that, we are strong, determined, and often seem to surprise ourselves with our grit and resilience. I admire you greatly and am often inspired by you, when doubt would seize me in the midst of my own struggles, which surely pale next to yours. So thank you, for that. 💝🫡

Thank you, it’s really unusual for anyone to say they admire me. The few people I have contact with in real life (mostly healthcare workers) make it clear that I’m an unwanted burden on society, my own pharmacist says I’m a drain on the NHS and the health board tried to switch one of my medications to a much cheaper one that had already been tried and didn’t work, just to save money because I’m not worth the money. When my begging to stick with the one that works failed and I started crying in despair, the woman laughed at me and told me not to be so dramatic. Whenever I make conversation with someone outside and they ask the inevitable dreaded question “So what do you do?” and they find out I’m unemployed they immediately change their demeanour and clearly don’t want to talk to me any more. I have some cousins who are doing alright for themselves, but when I became so ill that I had to quit work and claim benefits, they shamed me for it and then had nothing more to do with me, not even a check in to see if I’m OK. In this capitalist society no-one cares about you once you can no longer work, and once you cost the taxpayer money. I feel like absolutely worthless trash all the time, this is the only place I get treated like an actual human being.

I really hope your injury heals up soon. It’s a sick world where we can’t get the help we need. I actually contacted my local council about getting some assistance with daily things but they said they’re so overwhelmed with people needing help that they are now only helping bedbound people and those with learning difficulties. I also know what you mean about feeling uncomfortable posting on mutual aid when others seem more in need. I actually need a lot more things than i ask for, I just try to ask for help with the most desperate things because I can see other people here are in warzones and probably even more desperate. Unfortunately this capitalist world has even caused mutual aid to be a bit of a competition where there isn’t enough to go around and not everyone can get everything they need.

You’re welcome, and thank you, too. I’m waiting to be sent to a specialist and have necessary imaging. The paperwork was supposed to have been sent over today so hopefully I will have been assigned a care provider and an appointment relatively soon.

Sometimes the biggest test is shaking off treatment of cruel people and not letting it stick. I mean the actual physical issues are real and big but mental health is so, so important in physical outcomes. I hope you can find ways to mitigate how awful people make you feel.

I’m not a Christian but the bible verse “Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fattened ox and hatred with it” is true, I think. People being unkind is even worse than being poor. However, in my case, I got both. And my mental health is awful and even five different therapies have failed to make a difference.

I hope your medical situation resolves.

That verse today can be interpreted literally and figuratively.

Fwiw, my mental health had to look up to see the floor, for decades. There were moments of happiness, even ecstasy, but the baseline was low. You’ve probably read enough of my personal mental health experiences that worked for me, so I won’t rehash them here; unfortunately, what works for one doesn’t work across the board. I wish for the most favorable outcome for both your mental and physical health. And I will be glad when your landlady returns.

Thank you for your well-wishes. It’s in the works!
