    My understanding is there is no reentry process, so they would be going through the same process new members go through, so there is a very real possibility they simply wouldn’t make the cut.

      They definitely wouldn’t, as it stands right now.
      They would have to give up the pound as currency, for one.
      That alone might push public opinion against EU membership.
      The Brits saying they want to reverse Brexit don’t realize that that isn’t possible. Britain had a lot of exemptions from EU rules carved out for them when they were still members, which would be gone if they reapply.
