What kind of messed up reality do those 20% of Reform voters who want a second Brexit vote live in?

It’s the same with the 30% Trump supporters left.

They are doing some religious thing, by projecting their wishes, hopes and dreams onto a person or political party. It stops being politics and becomes a magical believe system.

Which scares me, since that means one third of the population (and maybe more) are basically actively working against democracy on behalf of some leader figure or movement.

My understanding is there is no reentry process, so they would be going through the same process new members go through, so there is a very real possibility they simply wouldn’t make the cut.

They definitely wouldn’t, as it stands right now.
They would have to give up the pound as currency, for one.
That alone might push public opinion against EU membership.
The Brits saying they want to reverse Brexit don’t realize that that isn’t possible. Britain had a lot of exemptions from EU rules carved out for them when they were still members, which would be gone if they reapply.

As a Brit who never supported leaving in the first place, good. We had a great deal and we pissed it away by being idiots. If we go back in and there are essentially no consequences for it, we’ll just end up trying to go in and out every time the government switches away from Labour.

Of course they are. This has been an ongoing situation for a few months. Last i heard the EU wouldnt be opposed as long as there are hefty punishments in case of another exit.

Man, I’d love to rejoin and couldn’t care less about switching to the Euro, but I’m not sure we deserve it in such a short time span since leaving.

The longer you wait for the next poll, the more old remainers will have died and the more likely is your success…

I largely agree with your logic, but if they wait too long for the next poll, they’ll be doing it under a reform government

I mean, they left already. It’s a done deal, regardless of if the deal was crappy to begin with. What’s another vote going to prove? And why would the EU take them back when they already demonstrated that they’ll gladly ratfuck a plebiscite to get the result they want?

I suspect if we did have another vote, it wouldn’t go in favour of Rejoin anyway (and I say this as a remainer who never supported leave at all.) I suspect a lot of people assume we’ll be rejoining with the same deal we had before, so if we tried to rejoin and Europe said we have to accept the Euro, the right-wing papers would fire up and have a field day about it, and a big chunk of those people who wanted a second vote would flip sides.
