I wonder if the Union Jack specifically left off the dragon, as to not recognize the welsh folk lore, or claim of an independent group like the rest of flags on it

Dragons in old English stories too so it’s not even specifically a Welsh thing. Just another reason to have one on the UK flag.

Which invasion? There were a few… To say it was all Welsh seems a bit odd. Everywhere has been invaded at least a few times.
I think the most well known ones here would be Roman, Anglo Saxon, Viking and Norman.
Its in the old hiatory books. The Welsh were from the Original Celtic Britons of the Iron age. Before the ‘new’ invaders.

I think it’s a rule that countries that have been conquered by the french have to use those colours.
