      Sewer socialism

Sewer socialism is what this country fucking needs. Sustainability requires more people living in dense cities but most cities in the US fucking suck, I lived in Denver CO for a few years and it was disgusting. All the parks were filled with trash, all the public transit was over crowded, trash service was inconsistent. Also I get reactionaries like demonizing the unhoused but I think we should be honest about the fact that living in a city with a big unhoused population is very unpleasant, it’s not nice having to see people with clear mental health and substance abuse issues all over the sidewalk every time you go to grab a six pack from the corner store.

More leftist candidates could win just by running on forming some kind of “urban beautification corps” where they pay 20 somethings to clean shit up and build homeless shelters and other stuff so people don’t have to see fucking McDonalds bags full of puke every time they walk their dog.

I’ve heard all the critiques of this guy and while a lot of them are valid, he’s actually been pretty god damn strong out the gate in terms of actually addressing material conditions and while people should continue to critique him when he says or does anything stupid I gotta say I am impressed so far.

It’s a telephone line and “research” (wtf does that even mean, what exactly is being researched?). 15 mill if distributed for surgeries would be like 300 trans people getting help. Better than nothing but I really question the resource allocation here, 15 mill would be better spent on housing for homeless trans people as that is a permanent investment in helping poor trans people, not something that will ultimately just give money to telephone operators and doctors.

Electoralism is a dead end in terms of actually changing anything, but it’s nice to see the Democrats finally become so discredited that actual socialists are winning elections and throwing their political capital around to help people
