/2017. I wonder what he’s up to, nearly a decade later.
Edit: actually, the initial arrest was barely over a decade ago.
“i’Ll FuCkInG dO iT aGaIn”
who gives a fuck if you burn a flag. it’s a fucking piece of cloth.
Ultra-nationalist care.
The fun part is that according to the US Flag Code, burning is the preferred disposal method.
Technically, yes. But youre not supposed to just burn it whole. Youre supposed to literally rip it to pieces first.
Youre also not supposed to wear the flag as clothing, fly it in the rain, or at night. And while not explicitly stated, youre not supposed to fly it behind your car because it gets dirty and torn, which is reason to retire (burn) it.
Just like how kneeling is the most respectful way to not stand for the national anthem.
But … ya know … Black people
Illinois state legislature cares, and that’s the reason Mellott was arrested (though the police later said they’d done it for his own safety, because of the hostile Facebook comments he was receiving).
The judge ruled the statute unconstitutional and therefore unenforceable.
Many people, perhaps most people, operate primarily on the emotional level. That’s one of the big problems facing humanity.
They’re gonna be real mad when they find out how American flags are properly disposed of.
And funny enough, they couldnt care less how (or more so where) most American flags are made.
I assumed they were all hand stitched by American inmates.
Yeah I’ll never understand. It seems so fucking stupid.
It’s a political statement, and people get really fucking mad about politics.
Which is all the more reason law enforcement should not have cared.
Law enforcement are people too, sort of.
Usually people with really bad politics.
Infinite money hack.
Burn flag, get falsely arrested, sue, win lawsuit, burn flag…
There was a black guy who sued a bank for some racist actions they took while trying to deposit a check. He won, and when he went to deposit the settlement check, another bank did the exact same thing.
I remember hearing about that. Do we know if the second bank has also lost a lawsuit yet?
Yeah, and he won and went to deposit at a third bank, but then … Nah but it would’ve been most hilarious story if true
double or nothing
That’s the exact correct response. They knew the assignment and passed it flawlessly
