🚨 President Donald Trump said moments ago that he considers the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding (MOU) effectively over, accusing Iran of violating the understanding by launching attacks on ships and firing rockets during the funeral period.
Trump said the U.S. responded with strikes “20 times tougher” than Iran’s retaliation, adding: “Every time you hit, we hit.” He called Iranian leaders “evil” and “a cancer,” saying, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s over. I don’t want to deal with them anymore.”
But he added that if U.S. negotiators would like to still speak with Iran, he’d let them, though in his mind continuing talks with Iran was “just a waste of time.”

I think Trump chose to wait until after the July 4 weekend. Iran is also holding a week-long funeral for Ayatollah Khamenei from July 3-9, with 30 million expected attendees. I think the US wanted to attack during the funeral.
