    Mark Carney is a placeholder. Like literally, he’s accomplished, but his main style is having no particular style.

    The NDP and Conservatives are way off in their respective wings right now, and there’s a never-ending external threat to rally people around the flag. This is easy mode for any Liberal PM.

    Edit: So no, he’s not causing any realignment himself. He’s just running things the way he wants, because he can.

      This has always been the style of the Liberal party. Justin Trudeau was an outlier.

      This is why they’re called “the Natural Governing Party of Canada.” They benefit from tremendous amounts of vote splitting!

        Hmm, does NDP vote splitting actually benefit the Liberals? The Conservatives and Greens would be the definite big winners under proportional representation, the former because of wasted votes in the deep blue prairie ridings, and the latter because they get a few percent everywhere (including the deep blue prairie ridings).
