The turning point in my belief was watching someone with a spectacular amount of money on the line fire their highest performers because they were achieving that performance without LLMs.

    lol; lmao

    • My partner was the only person on their team who knew how to do anything and i can promise you 1) the ceo consulted an llm about this return to office decision and 2) work is piling up and being done just straight up incorrectly now that my partner is gone

I love living under the most efficient economic system possible

My leadership keep claiming that ai can replace people who know what theyre doing but my first hand experience of those who dont is quite literally monkeys on typewriters. One guys brain is basically plugged into copilot and his strategy is trying completely random things that just break the system over and over until pure random chance might “fix” it but the “solution” ends up being something like chmod 777 all of root

The people with no comprehension of what theyre doing wielding AI are so incredibly dangerous im certain they’ll eventually bring down critical services and cause a crisis lol

One of the reasons i persist in ignoring people telling me not to interact with llms at all is so that i at least somewhat know what I’m doing when I do, but my approach is more to try to break it in weird ways rather than asking it for novel ways to break important IRL systems. Your coworker is a true master at their craft (/s)

I’m honestly surprised they didn’t just try to straight up replace my partner with AI instead of this return to office nonsense but I think they might be legally constrained since it’s compliance and certification related and not the kind of thing you’d wanna fuck up (but who am i kidding, my partner’s fucking doctor was using an LLM, I bet it’s why they “forgot” to prescribe omeprazole when they had trouble eating)
