I’m in the iOS 27 beta, and the keyboard still sucks. But now it’s at war with itself, and it’s amusing to see. If you type “you’re”, it’ll autocorrect to “your” after you type a few more words. Then a couple of sentences later, it gets underlined in blue, and if you tap it, it’ll offer to put it back.
I’m just wondering why it makes the change in the first place.
Oh, and keyboard suggestions are replaced with AI slop tools, and the only way to get rid of them is to disable Siri entirely. However, CarPlay now requires Siri to even start.
Yes, I’m reporting this every beta and I hope others are as well.

I do not use Siri much, but it is nice to have her when I need her. Sad to hear you have to disable her to get rid of ai.
It’s easy to enable again and I don’t have to get back in line. After the first developer beta, the wait was 13 days unless you were an influencer — some social media types got it early to hype it up. Regular users who signed up the first day had to wait almost 2 weeks though. I can disable it, get the old typing back, enable it and get CarPlay back, no time lost.

But does this mean, you have to switch Siri off and on every time you need it vs every time you type something?
More technical, is this a global setting or can this be set per app?
I don’t use CarPlay (but I really wish I had it) but I refuse to use Siri, so I guess that idea is out.
I’ve noticed keyboard correction got WAYYY SHITTIER on the current version (not the new beta) when AI was turned on. Like, remarkably, impressively shittier. Turning it off made an extremely noticeable improvement.
CarPlay requiring Siri goes back at least 2 versions, probably more.

Yeah, it’s weird that it’s a requirement in the first place. They could just disable the ability to open the microphone and you could still use it for everything else.
I realized it was a requirement a few years ago as my partner has always had Siri disabled and is unable to play music in my car because of it.
It is on the surface logical but I never use Siri, just the interface. Because Siri tends to suck. Strictly speaking message dictation isn’t Siri.
Have you reset your keyboard now that you’re on a beta? Might help, especially if the beta is touching that functionality.
I seem to be resetting it every month or two. But it’s been hallucinating auto corrections for years now.
Does anybody else have the issue where auto correct will just stop working in iMessage until you come out and back into the message? You know it’s crashed because words stop appearing in the bar above the keyboard.
As for new Siri. It’s terrible, I can’t seem to find a way to revert back to older siri
