This is the logic for so much costuming, but people get on board with all sorts of silly looking shit irl and in futuristic movies. I think it’s often just an excuse because ‘historical’ film has a pretentious air about it, and the filmmakers are scared of not being taken seriously by their peers more than the audience will actually be taken out by a Tudor cap on a woman
