No Tux, no bux. Shame, as Marvel Rivals is a game I’ve spent a lot of money on and play on Linux almost daily. It baffles me that one IP has a game that runs flawlessly and is basically the poster child for a good competitive game on Linux while another release from the same IP is trash tier unplayable.

Every other fighting game arcsys has developed so far works flawlessly on Linux. There are clearly different requirements that were probably pushed for development of this one.

We know its a different game and developer. That is not the point. Fun fact: Not every game is Marvel Rivals.

The point seems to be that people are apparently easily baffled by simple concepts.

I think you didn’t understand the message you replied to. Its not being baffled about simple concepts. Its being baffled why there is no support for Linux at all. We are disappointed. It’s baffling for anyone not picking up such a simple message.

They are being unnecessarily snarky, but you’re not quite capturing the full picture either. The original comment places heavy emphasis on an expectation that an IP should have similar standards across games, devs, genres, and publishers.

While that might be nice, I can’t really think of a large IP that can claim that really. Any IP large enough is going to have its flops.

It’s fine and even understandable to be disappointed, that just seems like a strange angle to approach it from.

The original comment clearly talks about compatibility about Linux support, not about similar standards. While one game runs flawless on Linux, the other does not. And it is disappointing that Sony did not do that. Especially because some games published from Sony run on Linux, even multiplayer games. Being a fighting game, other competitive fighting games playable on Linux, it is a shame and disappointment.

Yes, but it frames that compatibility disappointment by using Marvel Rivals in the same IP (Marvel) as a contrasting example. Even though the two games share different genres, devs, and publishers. The only thing they share in common is the IP, which really doesn’t have anything to do with Linux compatibility, so it’s just a strange way to frame it.

I think we’re just reading the same comment very different ways. Nothing you’re saying is wrong, I just think you’re leaving out the framing of the comment, which is what snarky guy picked up on.

My frame rate is locked at cap and I had no lag. I’m sure others are having issues, but I’m not. The game is a blast. Sucks about Linux, though.
