I feel like I didn’t get the memo or something. But I live in a suburb between a city and rural areas, mix of a lot of different life styles. It’s a lot like the neighborhood I grew up in, but for some reason here the gen x white people all hang out in there driveways. They’ll set a fire pit out sometimes and they all have back yards. Anyone else experience this? Am I the weird one? It makes walking the dog feel really weird sometimes.
That actually sounds really nice in many ways. People are outside and closer to public rather than walled away behind their fences? That this is white people sounds kinda like the opposite of what I usually see in the city near me where it’s black and brown people spending their time out in their driveway or on their porch being social while crackers are off hiding away from the world somewhere.
If you want them to stop, print out some flyers about something you care about and go hand them out. I wouldn’t want them to stop but doing community outreach is a good thing anyway imo.
I appreciate the communal aspects of it, but the driveway is what leaves me scratching my head. Especially with some of the expansive manicured lawns or occasional nice porches some people have, or maybe just under a tree. Nope, gotta sit there on the hot concrete.
