Current study examined the proportion of intellectual disability in autism across two decades and in different age groups.
The proportion of intellectual disability in autism decreased substantially over two decades (from 55.8% in 2001 to 6.7 in 2020).
The prevalence of registered autism increased with approximately 800% during the same period.
Interesting. If I rephrase that I get; registration increased with 800%, while intellectual ability increased (from 44 to 93% iiuc) , in the same 20 year period.
Note: According to the article, Intellectual disability (ID) is defined as having a tested intelligence quotient (IQ) score below 70 (±5), coupled with impaired adaptive functioning.
Aka An expanded definition of the diagnosis means and larger cohort are included in the diagnosis.
