China has helped Russia make its Shahed-type attack drones faster and more difficult for Ukraine to intercept by supplying key components, including turbojet engines.

China has become a crucial hub in the global supply chain that allows Iran and Russia to obtain components for Shaheds, including engines, servomotors, gyroscopes, and electronics.

Ukrainian officials who examined captured Russian drones said newer models are increasingly equipped with Chinese-made components.

The shift became particularly evident in early July, when Russia used turbojet-powered Shaheds in a massive attack on Kyiv. The new drones can reportedly reach speeds of around 300 miles per hour (483 km/h) – roughly three times faster than older propeller-driven versions.

Ukraine has said the engines powering some of these drones were made by Telefly Telecommunications Equipment, a Chinese company based in Shenzhen that produces computer and communications equipment as well as small microturbine engines for drones.

After Ukraine publicized the discovery of its engines in Russian drones, the turbojet section disappeared from the company’s English-language website, although it remained available on Chinese-language pages and through other Chinese vendors.

China is a key link in Shahed production

The Shahed was originally developed by Iran, which itself relied heavily on foreign technology and components. Early Iranian drones were primarily designed for reconnaissance and air support, but their limited accuracy eventually pushed engineers toward one-way attack drones that could cause significant damage even without precision targeting.

Russia, which calls the drones Geran, frequently launches Shaheds alongside ballistic and cruise missiles to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses. While the missiles carry much heavier warheads, Shaheds are relatively inexpensive and can be deployed in large numbers.

China needs Russia to not be isolated by the US. If the EU can offer China something to not be threatened then China can distance itself from Russia.

China will never distance itself from Russia, Russia still has tons of oil and gas money. China, most of all, likes money like every capitalist ever.

O and don’t forget they need the peace as well, they have fought in the past over territories because they both colonized in each other direction. As long as they can trust each other they dont have to use any of manpower to protect their shared border and can focus on the outer border. Being friends is strategic, just like Japan’s an US’s is (also) strategic.

China the country is very much a greedy capitalist country, it’s just partially state capitalism. Still making more new billionaires than any other country.

China has the billionaires because they took that as a lesson from the failed USSR. Is it a problem as long as the billionaires don’t decide politics?

In June 2018, it was reported that some of president Donald Trump’s supporters and friends, including Kevin McCarthy, Rupert Murdoch, Sheldon Adelson, Elaine Chao, and Rudy Giuliani, the onetime federal prosecutor whose criminal investigation led to Milken’s conviction, were urging the president to pardon Milken.

Do the billionaires, the Capitalists, have the same influence on politics in China?

How would either of us ever know?

Chinese politics are much more discreet than USA, just because you don’t know the details like in Milken case doesn’t mean that they are “less capitalist”

China’s progress will tell us. If China allocates resources better than US billionaires then they are either better humans, or Chinese billionaires don’t have the same power to influence politics for their own short-term advantage.

Never heard of armament of Uyghurs. Only criticism of how they’re being handled. Who do you think arms them and how? Has violence even been an issue in recent times? Seems like it could be just the Chinese narrative without any evidence or occurrences.

No, there was none (at least none i would know of), but it would be nice if it would stay this way, right? wink, wink

Has violence even been an issue in recent times?

Well, would be nice if nobody would give the some… ideas… right?

The US does, and we helped the US in Afghanistan, which is suspiciously close-by. Now we don’t anymore, but can China trust us?
