Trying to find more info about this series of games. I think III was actually the first and only game until a fan remade it decades later.

Here’s the OP postr for sale for $1,500 USD yikes

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/147383899874

Some old forum posts say it cost $6/hour to play it on Compuserve. Fascinating.

Some interesting background and description of the game.

    https://gamesoffame.wordpress.com/megawars-iii/

It looks like someone named David Baity remade Megawars III a few times; in HTML, in Silverlight, and then in Unity.

I still have an ad for Compuserve somewhere. I thought it was $7 an hour but could be wrong. On top of that, you had to pay long distance fees to the phone company. Compuserve was in Columbus Ohio. From my house in the Cleveland suburbs it was probably around 50 cents a minute, about $1.70 in today’s money. Also dial up modems were super slow, mine was 1200 baud or 1.2k a second

It’s kind of neat. I think that there aren’t any pictures of it because it was text-only, but it’s hard to tell which games existed when.

WTF were you just staring at the tits on that poster?

No no! I was trying to read the tiny text, I swear!

(Was actually staring at the hunk of a dude in underpants)

The text getting tinier is funny, like “We know you won’t bother to read, so here’s whatever”

The he-man outfit is also silly-funny

Its a Star Wars thing. Without reading anything you’d get positive scifi vibes.

The description sounds like the title is wrong, it could be “Magawars” instead.
