As a Japanese guy, I can attest that the Japanese is unnatural and a quick search does show that the pricing is wrong. Also Saikachi would be an incredibly rare last name (all different ways of writing the kanji ads up to about 1’000 individuals in all of Japan), so it shouldn’t be difficult to find her in a quick online search but you can’t find anything about her.

I had Earthworm Jim, some platformer where you’re a clockwork knight toy, a 3-player smash-em-up called something like Three Dirty Dwarves, and the dinosaur fighting game Primal Rage. It’s probably ass but I have a lot of nostalgia for Primal Rage, ha. I’ve gone back to listen to the soundtrack on occasion.

Yeah this is it. “Overwhelming” and then it could also be something like “the 32-bit CG impact” or maybe “32-bit CG is a shocker”, so definitely talking about the console. Although writing “bit 32CG” would be an odd way to phrase it these days, but I guess there are a lot of tech phrases from 30 years ago in English too that sound pretty strange now.

90s were wild for gaming ads. I remember Battlecruiser 3000 AD and Daikatana ads the most.
Daikatana was gloriously stupid but in retrospect - gotta respect our man Romero - fan patch Daikatana goes hard as fuck.
As a teenager I loved that game. I’d absolutely hate it now. Great vision with a wet fart of an execution. I should give the fan patch version a chance.
it was a haphazard mess on release but fan patch made it playable and quite enjoyable (if you’re into oldschool fps). they fucking fixed AI! and the bugs are gone! and it doesn’t crash every 10 minutes! it’s still filled with stupid shit to the brim but i kinda respect its maximalist game design even if it is quite overwhelming at times.
Thank you! I was at high school when it came out, and somehow it fascinated me, I played the shit out of it despite its shortcomings as a game, it captivated me in some way.
Daikatana is a bit outside my wheelhouse, but is it worth playing if I like Postal 2 or is more along the lines of Duke Nukem which I find uninteresting?
Daikatana is an oldschool FPS that also tries some rudimentary RPG mechanics and is technically four games mashed with its own sets of weapons and enemies. It is as rough as it gets but Romero had the right ideas and much of what he envisioned in Daikatana ended up being the future of FPS
It has interesting ideas for its time, like NPC companions with voice lines, a leveling up system, and some creative weapons. Out of the 2 you mentioned, I guess it’s still closer to Duke Nukem, but you can watch some gameplay videos or give it a try for $1 and see if you like it.
funnily enough - Daikatana ended up being way better than Duke Nukem Forever.

For Japan, the original is grey, and the model 2 with the round buttons is white.
Yeah okay that’s the grey model with blue buttons. Wasn’t paying attention to those… for some reason. It looks darker here due to photography, printing, and/or scanning.
I only remember 2 games for the Saturn:
Myst, which I later got on PC after renting the Saturn version (the Saturn was also rented), and Dragoon something… It was basically a SHMUP but you rode the back of a dragon and was 3D.
I know I played more than those two, but I don’t remember any of 'em.

There was one which stands above them all and I think would still hold up well today…Guardian Heroes. It was a fantastic multiplayer side-scroller beat-em-up with fighting game style moves, magic, choose your path, and even an arena mode. I loved that game and always hoped it would be ported to something more modern (besides Gameboy).

Iv been waiting for a steam sale. I cant bring myself to pay 35 for such a old game, even if its worth it. But man i havent played it since the pc release back when, me and my dad both had a save file. Good times.
The version in Steam is remastered from the original and is and also available on GOG for $20 right now.
