I would have no idea who hasan piker is if the Republicans weren’t losing their mind over him. I mean, I still don’t, really. But now I’ve heard the name and have a vague understanding of what he does. They’re giving him so much more exposure (get it?) than he would have had otherwise. They’ve created their own demon like they always do.
Like trans women in women’s sports. But they’re trying to kill women’s sports too, so like… What? But anything that makes their base riled up is a win for them. It distracts the mush-brained base from seeing their income getting taken by billionaires or chemical companies making their tap water undrinkable while republican lawmakers line their pockets from those same chemical companies. At this point, he’s to the left of Bernie Sanders, who is to the left of most of the Democratic party. For a figure in the United States, he’s not a centrist. Especially on the subject of Palestine. If anything he’s been elevated as punching bag for centrists.
I’m not versed enough in Piker lore to say either way but this definitely feels like a stretch. His dad is also a leftwing political commentator with similar beliefs.

Consevative media does a really good job at insulating their base by character assassination on anyone who might change minds. I would argue it’s one of the most effective tactics that conservative media uses. They don’t have to argue the points if they consistently and uniformly just act like the target is an idiot.
