The poster I responded to was clearly taking the article at face value, even ignoring the satirical nature, it’s a 5 year old article either way and not written about current events.
A post trying to conflate a 5 year old satire article and current events is factually wrong and should be called out, even if the source is obviously satire.

Gallows humor. It’s sad that the general events are real but the mocking way the article and headline are written allows the reader to chuckle through the horror.

It’s not meant to be funny. It’s meant to be shocking and lead your outrage in a quest to disprove the core tenet, only to be forced to confront the awful element/actual reality the article was satirizing.

Satire isn’t necessarily meant to be funny. This one is meant to spark conversation, and look at what we’re doing right now. Would it be in better taste to not talk about it at all and stay ignorant?
