House of dragon hasn’t been bad, but it hasn’t gripped me either. Feels like diet GoT. They’re trying to do what Hollywood does: figure out the recipe and cash in.

The problem here is the discontinuity in the timeline. Some actors age, some don’t, some get replaced… All on top of a fairly emotionless story. After season one of the original, you have a developing cast that’s interesting and a climax that makes you go ‘WTF?’

At the end of HoD, I just let out a “meh.” I may go back, assuming I have nothing better. I’m far more interested in season 2 of Severance or many other higher quality series out there.

We do not talk about season 8. Say you’re sorry.

Kidding aside, I’m 100% with you.

PS - I was talking about the climax to season 1.

Season 7 is just as bad. Wake up 🤣

If you haven’t watched GoT 1-6 in a while, go watch season 7 and tell me WTF is going on. It’s a god-honest fever dream. 🫠

Diet GoT hits the spot, it is absolutely right. I watched half the first season or and got bored because it repeated so many of the things in GoT. Maybe not the directors fault, I guess the books are just written that way.

It focuses a lot in character building and setting the scene for the terrible mess that’s apparently to come. Shit starts to hits the fan towards the end of the season… I’m very excited for season 2.

Especially since there’s less chance of all this character development being flushed down the toilet like in GoT, because the source material is actually finished

I haven’t seen it, but I’m going to predict some incest, a lot of other twisted shit, and a plethora of main character deaths. How did I do?

You cannot spoil either for me because I simply refuse to watch them.

Not really. I still remember all the hype for season 6 or whatever, everyone and their mom hosting watch parties for the finale, and then all of them being massively disappointed because it apparently it sucked sooo bad lol

That’s like saying “too bad you didn’t get drunk with us, you missed out on all the fun that happened before everyone threw up”

Exactly. Why ever gave a good time if it might be a little sucky at the end.

Most people find bad endings to retroactively taint the experience leading up to it.

If you don’t, cool for you, but it should be easy to see why most people end up less excited and positive about a work if it ends poorly

From there it should also be easy to see why someone might do the math and judge something with a poor ending will end up being a net negative despite the positive they experience along the way.

Yeah I dig that. I just feel if it’s an experience made up of multiple parts, just because the last one wasn’t as good shouldn’t distract from the rest. Like if you go bowling and you win every day 4 times in a row but came 3rd on the 5th day, it was still a good time overall.

If you go into life only wanting to experience perfection (not quite the word I’m looking for, but it will do) and avoiding anything less, you would be consciously missing out on great times.

Meh. Been there, done that. Nowadays I’d rather have a sucky time that might be good at the end.

the Last season sucked but the rest are some of the best television that has been made. I refused to watch until last year and not mad I did

We know most of them by terms like “that woman from Nurse Jackie” and “he was one of the Doctors Who” so I get this.
