The HEC will be producing works of cultural commentary to reconcile opposing sides, in conjunction with hosting salon-style spaces for people to talk about important issues and difficult ideas while resisting their reflexive reduction to existing ideological oppositions. We also seek to create new forms of dialectical mediation between opposing viewpoints in Western society, and point the way to solutions that transcend reduction and polarization produced by the status quo. As a women-led initiative, the HEC seeks to prioritize women’s voices in critiquing stereotyped political logic from a socially grounded perspective.

what even is this? Like beyond the hellish vibes this has going on (and I just know it has some horrible red scare/dimes square connection which I was hoping died off), what do I see if I go to this? Will it just be some woman who calls herself “Beyond Woke and Problematic” droning on about Hegel at me for an hour and a half?

I try to figure out who these people are and I just follow links to these random substacks full of articles with titles like “Notes 6/29/24” where they ramble on and on about nothing with no clear purpose. The most irony-poisoned, masturbatory, faux-intellectual posturing I’ve ever read in my life. I honestly feel pity at these peoples’ existence, life must be a living hell for them. Are these the children of privilege, overeducated at the country’s most elite institutions now with nothing to do in their lives but cosplay as postmodern Downtown philosophers? What do these people actually do? Like, how are they notable, and why should I care about their thoughts on Hegel? Or what they think at all?

    The writing also sucks ass.

There’s a series of scenes from the show The Sopranos where the mob wives try to be sophisticated and “elevate” themselves beyond the status of dormant, spoiled wives of criminals.

They have brunch and movie clubs. But they always become bored, create echo chambers supporting each other’s nonsensical analyses, or they just end up with conversations about vanity.
