It doesn’t sound like he’s asking if the roommate is hysterical, but instead is wondering if it’s wrong to badger them about how hysterical they are, which he is already certain they are because Israel “precisely targets militants” only. To ask if her fears are well-founded would be questioning his reality which is usually too much for any redditer to comprehend.
