    ✅ Final clean

    ✅ Photos taken and sent

    ✅ Keys returned

    ✅ LL emailed

    ✅ Bond return initiated

✅ Picked up a week’s worth of food from Fairfeed

Goodbye old house and old life!!! Onto the transitory period before the next big thing… interestingly just yesterday I hear from my cousin in regional Vic that they’re seriously considering moving (back) to WA…

E: I also wish to mention that my fingerprints aren’t working so well on my phones. Must’ve been cleaning too hard lol.

I loath going back to an empty place for the final clean. It’s an emotional kick especially when you got the place in a worse condition.

I can totally see why people just get bond cleaners to do the job. By that stage of the move you’re already exhausted and cranky. If you had to leave because you didn’t want to it’s easy to feel resentful when cleaning. I’m so glad it’s over. I never want to think about that place again now

I do too, but I want my own photographs. Not trusting any company cleaner to match to intake ones properly.

Oh wait so these bond cleaners do the photos as well? I figured I’d still take my own photos anyway after they’re done.

I’ll keep that in mind from when I move out of my current place…

Have moved to a tiny musty old bachelor pad of depression in Richmond. It’s just a short term lease, hoping to gtfo as soon as uni is done. Possibly out of Melbourne or even Victoria. Definitely not inner city

Can’t claim sewing course is going well. Nobody is horrid, but I’m highly dubious my result will fit, and can really do without the graphic prego stories!

Opposite result of hoped for really.

Two members of my household tested positive for COVID today and I have symptoms but tested negative. Time to sit and watch some movies for the rest of the week maybe.

    Movie recommendations please!

said it before and I’m sure I will say it again: Boys highschool sex ed should be bringing in a new dad whos got a kid in daycare and ask them “how many times you been sick this year?”. You’d scare the crap out of them.

I’d like to be one of those people who feels compelled to buy a book every time they go into a book store, but they’re like $20 for even a basic paperback. I don’t want to drop that much every time I go look at books

I get them there when I can but I’m too slow a reader at the moment to not need a couple of renewals to get through a book

And I can read them in the dark easier. The kids still sleep in our room so I can’t really use a light for regular books

Depending on how voracious a reader you are, Kindle Unlimited may be worth investigating. I go through about 4 books a week, so the service ($14/mo) must have saved me about $1,000 by now.

Unfortunately I don’t read as much as I’d like, which is part of it. I get my ebooks from ‘other’ parts of the internet and that’s what I went to check.

I’m reading The Crying Lot of 49 and my version has some weird formatting. I wanted to check if it was just an eBook thing or a deliberate stylistic choice. Turns out it was just a weird eBook formatting thing

I used to work at a big w and when they have a book it’s always cheap. Especially kid’s books. I feel bad for independent toy stores because it’s so hard to compete with the big department stores there

The real problem imo is that the rich and shameless and/or powerful are stuck in an exploitative 19th century mindset, while the real world has moved on. Have you read Jared Diamond’s masterful depiction in Collapse - How Societies Choose to Survive or Choose to Fail? I found that book mindblowing. Also Tim Flannery’s The Future Eaters, which I regard as essential reading for anyone living in Australia rn. Some of the science is dated, but imo still valid in essence. And both authors are right on the money when it comes to how humans react to social stressors.

I hung out with Tim and his wife for a week in the far north of WA many years ago. They’re really cool and smart people. Bit of a secret: Tim is the famous one, but Alex is probably the smarter and cooler of the two. Shh! 😃

It’s not just money, there are too people who don’t care so much about getting money as making other people suffer.

I don’t know what we can do about that other than have safety nets.

I have in my party 90% of the time.

Especially boss fights. Usually run her, Gale and Karlach. Might sub Karlach for Jaheira later, and use Astarion for exploration

I’m going to play through this with my girlfriend at some point. She wants to play on the TV so we need to figure out how to get my big PC around there or come up with a work around. Steam link through the TV laptop worked alright when I set it up last night
