One of my lib friends is super against communism and his favorite show is Deep Space 9. He accidentally got an Engles quote tattooed on his arm because of the show. He thinks the episode “Past Tense” is a warning about why we shouldn’t build housing for poor people.
Of course politics can add authenticity to a narrative. Because it helps connect the dots in your head to current things you are experiencing. If politics didn’t add anything it wouldn’t resonate with the audience and authors wouldn’t bother with it.
But even that analysis is a bridge too far for the treat hogs.
