Okay, I guess to take this claim seriously, the idea is that they’re worried countries will try and use the McDonald islands as a port to engage in malicious transshipment (shipping from port to port, sometimes to avoid import tax and other shipping regulations).
But, wouldn’t the island need a port and a processing authority (ie a government) to be used for that?
these are the same people that seem to think american manufacturing is just going to magically come back because of tariffs. they seem to have an RTS sort of understanding of infrastructure.
