Assuming she has a good sense of humor, this should be an effective gambit for small mads. There is no cleverness gambit for big mads, trust me.

I’m imagining Mads Mikkelsen at different sizes and scales. Once he becomes as big as godzilla, there’s no hope.

Hey honey, let’s leave Linda to do the dishes while we go to bed.

Dammit Linda, where’d you put my keys this time?

It is a good tool to introduce levity into an otherwise normal or even embarrassing situation.

“Didn’t you say you were going to do dishes?”

“…uh, that was Linda. But since she spaced on it I’ll take care of them now.”

I think you need to reread this situation because I didn’t get the impression the wife was being unreasonable at all.

I wouldn’t take it so literally. Linda is a placeholder for the wife’s grievances over her husband. She is claiming that he might as well have a different hypothetical partner who is willing to put up with his antics and not get upset about it.

When people use their dreams as an excuse to express frustration, they don’t mean that what happened in their dream is real. They mean that the outcome of the dream is congruent with their grievances that they are unable to express without a device.

I don’t think this is a particularly healthy way of dealing with it, but just trying to give people some insight before dismissing their partners as crazy.

Sounds like a lot of hoops to jump through to avoid talking about your problems like an adult.

If talking about your problems like adults were easy, therapists wouldn’t have jobs.

I’m missing the context of what sort of dream this was and what emotions/fears etc. it triggered/processed.

I hope they talked this through and they’re both 100% sure joking like this won’t be hurtful or damaging.

If his name is Bob and his other wife’s a homeopath named Susan, it’s okay - Linda likes her.

I had a dream that my partner cheated on me with someone called Rachel, so now whenever he is texting or if he gets a random phone call I go “is that Rachel” or if I’m going away for a few nights I tell him to say hi to Rachel for me. If I’m texting or calling, he goes “is that Ray”, who we’ve decided is Rachel’s male counterpart. (It’s all jokes, obv)
