So my feet are what’s politely referred to as freakishly large.

I get custom made shoes subsidised because of a collapsed arch, but are there any styles I should consider to hide the enormity of my flippers?
My partner has a similar deal going on. She also needs specialty shoes because of a condition. She would get sneakers, since they were in style. My advice comes from this experience. She cannot wear anything that isn’t flat to the ground due to the aforementioned foot condition and her styles available to her are limited.
If you want to minimize your foot, choose darker colors. It doesn’t have to be black, you could go for brown, gray, or blue. A dark shoe with some light accents would also be fine. Choose styles that aren’t just one color/flat texture. It needs to be broken up with some sort of detail. You don’t need to worry about this with sneakers, since they always seem to have something going on, even ones that are all one color.
Avoid this, which is pretty same-y in the front
This has a little more going on and doesn’t look like one big, unbroken expanse
The other thing: look at the rest of your outfit.
I think skinny jeans or regular leggings (where you’re not wearing them under something like a skirt) would highlight your feet since these will just visually get smaller from your rear to your feet, until your feet. It would definitely cause a lot of contrast. Skirts should be fine, or any cut of jeans not skinny.
But of course, these are just suggestions. Only take the guidelines you like, and rock whatever you want. Fuck the haters.
Thanks that’s really helpful. I favour boot cut jeans usually, so it’s pretty easy to hide most of the time. But I also live in the arctic, so I need something that goes a fair way up the leg in the winter. So I can’t rely on the cut of the trousers.
I have large feet for my height (163cm, women’s US 12) and tend to just wear men’s shoes now. I have never had someone notice my feet are atypically sized, but it still feels like I’m wearing clown shoes if I wear Chucks or other canvas shoes.
You’ll want to avoid pointed toes, and narrow styles, these are designed to elongate. Any kind of heel rise will shorten the length of your footprint, I personally prefer chunky heels to balance it out. I tend to wear moto style boots the most, just to throw a style name out there
There are actually more unisex styles in men’s larger sizes out now than when I first started doing this (about 15 years ago). When I still wanted femme shoes I ended up buying from people who custom made drag queen shoes. It’s still uncommon to find cute heels in my size in the wild.
Edit: I forgot to mention that all the style mags in the 00s (at least) were talking about elongating the leg-toe line, because psychologically it demonstrates dominance and power. (please remember the opening to The Devil Wears Prada for an example xD) So if/when you have the energy and desire for it, own it. None of the other women in your vincinity have that kind of power play ability!
Thanks for the detailed reply. Regarding the leg to toe line. I’m planning on displaying dominance with my ass and thighs. I recon an aggressive regiment of squats, deadlift s and cupcakes will do the trick. Also if people are staring at my ass they won’t be staring at my feet.
I wear US 10s and have only ever found shoes that fit at Torrid, but this is in the US so it may not be relevant to you.
I’m only just out of the range, womens’ go up to 8 almost everywhere, 9 (mens’ 8) if you’re lucky. UK men’s 9+ doesn’t have a femme counterpart.
Similar (if a little different direction) issue here. Large size US mens shoes, 6E width, mostly flat feet that are also thick enough to affect shoe fitting 🙃
