Also just learned it’s a quote from a white nationalist neonazi in 1993, I never saw it used for anything other than antisemitic dogwhistling but I assumed the phrase was stolen from some liberal philosopher and taken out of a specific historical context… but no, just a neonazi.

    Wtf I leaned it was from Voltaire at school (and I’m French, imagine how shameful for the teacher) so I had to double check it and yeah you’re right it’s been misattributed
