Two unfinished games – Skater XL (basically a mod platform with no real career) – Session (solid mechanics but still janky and underbaked after years in Early Access)
Two emulated games – Skate 2 – Skate 3
…and that’s it. EA had a 15-year window to deliver a polished Skate 4 and instead launched a live-service experiment. Now the only way to get a complete, authentic skateboarding experience is to emulate decade-old titles or play unfinished indie sims.
not into Tony Hawk
smh
I’m an outsider to the skate culture but like what more than THPS and Skate 1 - 3 do you need. This feels kind of like a solved problem
The humble OlliOlli 2:
Well there is also SkateLab but it’s uhhh… just a physics driven sandbox. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2983940/SkateLab/
I will play THPS3 and nobody will stop me.
It’s probably too much to ask from EA to ever get a port of the Skate games, they could just remove all the expired licensed music if that was a problem. Activision is evil, but I have to give them credit for getting the rights to almost all the songs for the THPS remakes.
I saw redditors calling Skate 4 “gentrified Skate” and if that’s what redditors are saying you fucking know it must be soulless because those piggies thought Starfield was good until 2-3months after release.
who needs wheels when all four good SSX games run great on ps2 and gamecube emulation
I hear that floating sword game is pretty good
I haven’t heard of this one, what’s it called
Sword of the Sea maybe?
Surfing? That’s not skateboarding at all!
That’s the one

There’s also Grind Session (legally distinct THPS, but not as gravity defying as THPS gets), and Thrasher Skate and Destroy (it’s sorta more realistic like Skate is to a degree). Both on the PS1, of which makes them filed under emulating decades old games as well.
I played about 10 hours of skate 4, it doesnt seem any sillier than skate 3, i enjoyed it before my hands got sore flipping the sticks around
sucks its always online but whatever it was free
