Issue is, tankies like to sabotage the left to “ensure purity in thought”.
This community does not allow tankies, platforming tankies, or whitewashing tankies. Lemmy has an actual tankie problem given that the actual devs are tankies and their servers are filled with tankies.
The comments in that post were filled with a lot of defense of authoritarianism and as such it was removed because I am very very tired of tankies who absolutely love worming their way into leftist spaces and talk about how all states are auth and about leftist unity while denying genocides, imperialism, defending oppressing workers rights, and other human rights abuses. Can they please stop posting here. The banner literally says fuck tankies.

100% with you on this one. For every tankie on lemmy there are like 5 to 10 people bitching about tankies. There are entire unhinged communities dedicated to it even.

I’m sorry but there are plenty of tankies on lemmy. I don’t frequent .world much, and I assume there aren’t a lot there, but more leftist parts of lemmy unfortunately have a very real problem with tankies.

My guy, the instance run by Lemmy’s lead dev is explicitly a marxist leninist instance, and that pretty much just means they tolerate and encourage tankies. There’s more than one community on other instances recording all of the people who have been banned from the instance for daring to call it out. I believe the lead dev also runs the Lemmygrad instance, which is explicitly tankie. Hexbear is very tankie as well, and used to brigade frequently (they’ve finally started to calm down recently).
And those are only the “surface level” tankie instances that are well known and haven’t been blanket defederated by everyone.
This reads like tankie “red scare” tactics. Fuck tankies, I like my personal rights and freedoms to say so, and I’ll do it often.
I’d def pref the mods to nuke a few extra comments than let the tankies work their way in.
They thrive on being on the edge of acceptable until they can drive a “holdomir didn’t happen, Ukrainians just forgot how to eat” into a community
Edit: that edge of acceptability they skirt to get into communities makes it hard for people to discern if just close or it’s actually proto-tankie-posting
If you take a peek at the modlog of this community, you will see that there is a lot of tankies actually. The mods may be slightly trigger happy sometimes, but generally i think they are doing a good job.
Not a bad point, but that justifies a reply, not deletion. If that’s “whitewashing tankies” then I’m less likely to believe other removed posts were actually tanky.
Yeah it would have been nice to reply to your comment, but if you look at the sheer volume of garbage that needs removing, then i can see why mods dont do that.
They could have just left it, then, as it wasn’t endorsing tankies at all.
I don’t know how it was the tankies who got triggered by that meme when if anything, I would expect some liberals to take it the wrong way. I guess they thought they could work their way in here with the post, or maybe they just hate worker ownership like ML countries cracking down on unions, or maybe the word “leftist” just causes them to come out of the woodwork.
