It’s leftists sinking to the level of fascists, speaking in the tongue of reaction. Notice the lack of arguments or real thought. Tiktoks privilege anecdote over data and merely present things as an argument in and of itself. Like, all the nazis on Twitter that just repost a clip of a GDC talk where the person says something like “when playing games, gamers are tyrants” as if that’s evidence of anything, but they’re convinced by the presentation and not the content. It’s completely inscrutable to anyone who doesn’t already agree and swamped in the same algorithm.
People should be raised up to consciousness. Not whatever this is. Try using this to convince your coworker why being vegan is OK.
I think this may be just propaganda content intended to be fun for the in-group and improve the feeling within that group, not to convince anyone not already of that position. Which is also a form of propaganda which has to happen to retain force. But I agree that the TikTok format is severely limited in usefulness at making a complete argument unless pushed into something else (someone mention Lady Izdahar, who does manage to push these limits well form the 2 videos I’ve seen)
Agitprop has always been short-form, from leaflets to propaganda posters. We should not use it for making a serious case for socialism within the boundaries of short-form content, but to push the working class into better media, reading theory, joining an org, etc.
If we reject engaging with reactionary platforms, even if that’s where the people are at, then we are committing the same errors Lenin pointed out in “Left-Wing” Communism. We should be engaging in reactionary media and bringing people here and other spaces we control and cannot be silenced as easily. Both are critical aspects of raising consciousness.
