why? Are steam catapults considered “based” or something?
My speculation is that Trump half-remembered hearing about the USN’s electromagnetic catapult program going over budget (because everything goes over budget) and it became a thing he started saying.
They look cool. They go psshh whoosh and you remember them from movies.
There is a problem with electric design in the ships. Everything is on the same circuit, and the high electricity use from the catapults shut the ship down.
Water destroys magnets apparently.
