i’ve had a coworker tell me that it’s only fair to watch the ads cos you’re getting something free. he was completely sincere about it.

the key to propagnda is not coming off like an evangelizer (i fail at this frequently). just use moments when they are particularly frustrated with their situation to gently remind them that a solution exists.

I exaggerate, it was once or twice that I brought it up. Really they just don’t like switching browsers, which is understandable, but maybe they didn’t trust that it’s really easy to export bookmarks and passwords and all that from Chrome. Otherwise I’m always recommending NewPipe when people get YT ads on Android, which I found people are more receptive to since NP has so many good, exclusive features and people feel it doesn’t require any setup.

They can use uBlock Origin Lite on Chrome, which is better than nothing.

I had to install Lite just the other day after my chromebook finally did a forced shutdown (I haven’t turned it off for like a year) and Origin stopped working after restart. For my use case at least, there’s zero discernible difference between the two.

One of my relatives doesnt use an adblocker because he said that it makes your web browser slower.

He then downloaded a virus onto his phone after trying to watch anime on online sites.

My parents watch a lot of regular TV and the amount of ads always astounds me as someone who hasn’t watched regular TV in many years. Makes me want to quote this screenshot for sure.

i’ve been dealing with this a lot frequently because my girlfriend loves youtube, and its no problem on pc but the tv has ads every X minutes and its infuriating for both of us. i’ve got a remote mouse app on our phones, but its clunky to use, so i was considering a wireless usb mouse for that, and then eventually just decided on grabbing a pihole. its in the mail and very soon i’ll have no ads in my house whatsoever.

I can confirm that uBlock Origin Lite works perfectly on youtube, no difference from standard Origin. Takes a few seconds to install for free.

Any is good, except Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (since that’s part 2) tbh. 1 and 2 have pretty different gameplay from the newer ones, and they are worth playing.
