Anne Frank wasn’t directly killed by the nazis, she died of typhus in the concentration camp. Part of their plan to exterminate people is with rampant disease and neglecting healthcare

The fact that our governments have not banned Canadians and Canadian businesses from contracting with ICE is a stain on our nation. These folks need to be hauled in front of the ICC.

The sooner all world governments accept that the Untied States is a fascist, genocidal, dictatorship and treat it as such, the better.

Yea, we got the Conservatives without having to feel bad about getting them, they still have support from nearly half the voting base, and we severely weakened the NDP in the process. Worst part was that it was all incredibly obvious and we just let it happen like a bunch of idiots.

How mant times we gunna do the same thing until we learn our lesson?

Like I swear to fucking god, we are now at the point where there is absolutely no question that these are concentration camps. Minnesotan families are hiding in the homes of their neighbours in order to not get disappeared. Children are being used as bait. People who simply have skin deemed to be the wrong colour are being beaten to death in custody. Protestors executed on the street. ICE buying more warehouses every day. And we, Canada, have done fuck all. I am so ashamed.

I feel shame as an American. I’ve been making it through the day at work, and spending about an hour each day crying when I get home. When I think about all of the people being brutalized for existing I feel so deeply sad for them. I’m also fucking terrified that LGBT people will be next because I am one of those.

I’m autistic and live in Canada. I’m terrified that eventually the nazis will conquer Canada and ruin my life. What makes me sad is that, even if I survive this travesty, a lot of others who deserve to live won’t survive

No one deserves to be tortured and killed.

But I’d say that some people absolutely deserve to be punished, and currently no one in the US is holding them accountable. The people currently running the show in America are the type to abuse every possible opening, and they enjoy watching people suffer. Their supporters also enjoy watching people (i.e. non-straight whites) in pain, and are excited to continue enabling it. As a reminder, what is currently happening is literally the platform that Trump ran on, and the right was so excited at the possibility of hurting people that they “overlooked” the fact that they were voting (a SECOND time) for a pedophilic rapist felon.

If not action is taken, they are not going to stop terrorizing people on their own accord. So, don’t kill or torture them, but I’d say they absolutely do deserve to suffer considering what they have done / allowed / hoped for.

The hard core MAGA voters don’t give a shit until it happens to them. There are so many stories about entrenched Trump districts having their local economies collapse because ICE rounded up all the brown workers in their town. They were happy to vote for Trump making excuses, “Trump doesn’t really mean that,” or, “Trump will only go after the bad ones.” Suddenly it’s, “This wasn’t what I voted for,” shocked pikachu face. Finally, there are a subset of people that once it does happen to them, will say things like, “Trump isn’t hurting the right people.” There were plenty of voters that were brown themselves, thinking they were part of the in-group. Some of these people are incredibly hateful. I can’t say that these people will deserve their comeuppance, but they absolutely need to experience it to have any hope of learning anything and adjusting their attitude and hate towards others.

None of that makes it OK for people to be subjected to torture, arbitrary imprisonment, beatings, death.

If this changes some people’s minds? Great, yeah I should fucking hope so, but I am gonna go out on a limb and state that I am not pro-crimes-against-humanity no matter who the target is

I’m sorry, are you in effect saying that the innocent non voting population of a town deserves to be brutalized because the voters in the town they live in are assholes? The people who voted for him are, by and large, not the ones getting snatched, being beaten, denied medical treatment and sleep, starved, and killed by ICE. They’re their neighbors and employers, maybe their friends, and occasionally their spouses.

A review of 52 deaths in ICE custody by independent medical experts for a 2024 study found that 95 per cent of cases could have been prevented if the detainees had received appropriate medical care.

“Medical and mental health care in immigration detention facilities was failing people – especially the most medically vulnerable – even before the Trump administration,” said Eunice Cho, senior counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union and one of the report’s authors.

“Under this administration, things have gotten markedly worse.”
